Release an installation for transfer
Free the correct activation before a clean OS install or server transfer.
Before you begin
Customer account access and backups before reinstalling.
Use the controls offered by your installed version and account permissions. This guide describes the workflow; it does not grant additional access.
Follow the steps
- Open the license's installation/activation details.
- Identify the old server and use release/deactivate-for-transfer.
- Confirm its recorded result.
- Obtain the current installer command for the eligible license.
- Activate the replacement installation and verify its identity.
Check the result
The old slot is released and the new activation is recorded.
If something goes wrong
Reissuing a key is different from transfer. Reinstalling the OS destroys local data independently of licensing.
