Before you begin

Provider console recovery access and permission for root changes.

Use the controls offered by your installed version and account permissions. This guide describes the workflow; it does not grant additional access.

Follow the steps

  1. Open Server Identity and choose Hostname or Root Password.
  2. For hostname, enter a fully qualified hostname you control.
  3. For password, enter a strong replacement and confirmation; complete administrator verification if prompted.
  4. Save and inspect the result.
  5. Verify through a separate trusted session before closing your existing one.

Check the result

The saved hostname or credential matches the requested change.

If something goes wrong

Reverse DNS is managed by the provider. A hostname change does not automatically update registrar records or every certificate.
