Before you begin

A registered domain you control and available website capacity.

Use the controls offered by your installed version and account permissions. This guide describes the workflow; it does not grant additional access.

Follow the steps

  1. Ask your provider for the server IP and intended authoritative nameservers.
  2. Create or select the domain in Domains and confirm its document root.
  3. At the registrar or authoritative DNS provider, set the intended nameservers or records.
  4. Once DNS reaches the server, request a certificate through SSL Center.
  5. Open HTTPS and check the expected content.

Check the result

The name resolves to the intended server and serves the correct site with a valid certificate.

If something goes wrong

Adding a domain does not purchase it or change registrar delegation. DNS caches can delay visible changes.
