Review administrator authentication policy
Apply authentication controls deliberately and retain recovery access.
Before you begin
Root authorization and working MFA/recovery methods.
Use the controls offered by your installed version and account permissions. This guide describes the workflow; it does not grant additional access.
Follow the steps
- Open Security Center and inspect MFA requirements by role.
- Review idle-session and other supported authentication policy fields.
- Prepare enrolled factors and private recovery codes before making stricter requirements.
- Save and test a separate authorized login.
- Review lockouts and security events after changes.
Check the result
The intended policy is enforced while authorized administrators retain access.
If something goes wrong
Do not disable MFA or approve root-terminal access just to clear an unrelated error. Policy changes can affect every administrator.
