Before you begin

Control of the parent domain and remaining limits.

Use the controls offered by your installed version and account permissions. This guide describes the workflow; it does not grant additional access.

Follow the steps

  1. Decide whether the name needs its own content or an existing target.
  2. Choose the supported domain type and inspect its root or target.
  3. Save and create the corresponding authoritative DNS record.
  4. Include the real hostname in certificate coverage.
  5. Test each name over HTTPS.

Check the result

Every hostname serves its intended content.

If something goes wrong

An alias is not a separate application deployment. Mail routing and certificate scope do not automatically follow every website alias.
