Before you begin

A mailbox and confirmed server hostname, ports and encryption modes.

Use the controls offered by your installed version and account permissions. This guide describes the workflow; it does not grant additional access.

Follow the steps

  1. Use the full mailbox address as username unless instructed otherwise.
  2. Use the published hostname covered by its certificate for encrypted IMAP/SMTP.
  3. Enter actual provider ports and TLS modes rather than guessing from screenshots.
  4. Enable outgoing authentication when required.
  5. Test sending and receiving separately.

Check the result

The client authenticates to the correct service and validates its certificate.

If something goes wrong

A raw IP may not match a hostname certificate. Localhost and 127.0.0.1 refer to the client's machine, not your hosted mailbox.
